Advancing the Vision

Advancing The Vision Logo - A Capital Campaign for Bishop Noland Episcopal Day School 2019-2020 Phase II

Campaign Goal:  $2 Million

Total Pledges to Date:  $246,850.00

Bishop Noland Episcopal Day School held their official groundbreaking ceremony on Tuesday, October 9, 2018.  School faculty and staff, board members, donors, and local dignitaries were on hand to celebrate this momentous achievement.  This ceremony marked the beginning of construction of the school's state of the art campus that is scheduled to open in August 2020.

District Staff at Construction Site In February 2011, EDS acquired a 40-acre tract of wooded land located at the entrance to Graywood as the site for the new 7th through 12th grades. This site for the South Campus will provide a park-like atmosphere housing classrooms, two STEAM labs, an Academic Learning Commons, a campus life center featuring a competition sized gymnasium, two band and choir rooms, and a teaching lake. Adding the high school will complete the circle and establish EDS as the area’s premier college preparatory school.

Aerial rendering We started the capital campaign almost ten years ago with Soaring to New Heights.  In 2017, we began the preconstruction and construction phase.  This phase is Advancing the Vision.  Phase I brought us to $8 million in gifts and pledges toward our overall project goal of $10 million.  Phase II of Advancing the Vision seeks to raise $2 million to fully fund our capital projects, including new middle and high school facilities, the commons center and a new campus life center and gymnasium.  Every additional dollar raised at this point will lessen the amount the school will finance and improve the facilities we will be able to offer our students.

The Projects

Middle School Aerial rendering
Middle School and High School Facilities – $2.9 Million
On the new south campus, EDS plans to house grades 7th through 12th. This will free up classroom space on the north campus, allowing the lower school to triple section each grade. This will increase enrollment that will filter up to the high school. The new facilities will also be designed to embrace 21st century learning and teaching. The new building will include:
  • 5 core classrooms
  • 3 STEAM labs (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art + Design and Mathematics) classrooms
  • 1 band instructional space
  • 1 choral instructional space
  • Academic Learning Commons

Gym Aerial view - EDS Floor Plan Gym Campus Life Center and Gymnasium – $4.1 Million
A full size competition gymnasium will eliminate the need to travel to other schools for practices and will advance the success of our athletic programs. The gym will house volleyball and basketball courts, two potential classrooms, and seating for students, parents, and guests. In addition to housing a gym, this facility will also serve as a gathering place for students, space for assemblies, chapel, food service and performances that will enhance school spirit and a sense of community.

Commons Aerial Detail
Vision Goal, Academic Learning Commons - $1.9 Million
The Commons area is truly the heart of the school.  This setting facilitates self-directed and small group work.  This flexible instructional space will be configured for project-based learning, presentations, workshops, and research.  It will be ideal for 21st century, student-centered learning.  The Commons will also provide a place for gathering throughout the day in a welcoming, comfortable setting.

Opportunities for Annual Support

Please consider an annual gift in additional to a capital gift.

Eagle Fund

This fund is made possible by those members of the EDS community who understand that academic excellence requires attracting and retaining the brightest and best faculty.  In coming budget years, it is our hope that interst from the faculty endowment will allow us to achieve parity with the Calcasieu Parish teachers' pay scale and support professional development.
