Kim Vasquez

First Grade Teacher

Contact: kvasquez@episcopaldayschool.org

Hi, I am Kimberly Vasquez, and I am beginning my fifth year as a first grade teacher at Bishop Noland Episcopal Day School. Prior to joining the EDS family, I served as a Social Worker for the State of Louisiana for 13 years and specialized in the areas of adoption and public health.

As a Lake Charles native, I received my Bachelors Degree in Sociology from McNeese State University. I furthered my education at Louisiana State University where I earned a Masters in Social Work. In addition, I hold a Level 2 Teaching Certificate. My teaching philosophy is centered around developing not only students who strive for academic excellence but who also demonstrate confidence and compassion. American author and columnist, Bob Talbert says, "teaching kids to count is fine, but teaching them what counts is best.” As a first grade teacher not only do I get the privilege of teaching academics, but also of modeling and assisting my students in developing positive relationships and attitudes in a nurturing environment.

My husband Pepe and I have two children that attend EDS – Jace is in the 7th grade and Jillian is in the 5th grade.
