Kindergarten Teacher

Hi, my name is Katie Fruge, and I am Kindergarten teacher at Bishop Noland Episcopal Day School. This will be my eighth year teaching and my sixth year at EDS. I have taught Kindergarten for four years. I have also previously taught Prekindergarten (PreK 4) for both the Calcasieu Parish School Board and Bishop Noland Episcopal Day School. While teaching at EDS, I have tutored students using the Barton Reading and Spelling System developed for dyslexia and/or other academic needs.

Before beginning my teaching career, I received my bachelor’s degree from McNeese State University and completed the university’s teacher certification program to become certified in Elementary and Early Childhood. I have also tutored students K-5th at The Sylvan Learning Center in reading and math.

I am proud to say that I am an EDS Alumni! I attended Bishop Noland Episcopal Day School from preschool through eighth grade. I am also a member of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd. I am so grateful to be back at EDS with the opportunity to teach. A career in Early Childhood Education is truly a gift. I love being a facilitator of each child’s growth and development. I also love collaborating with all of the other wonderful teachers at EDS and ensuring a positive classroom environment where children feel safe, confident, and excited to learn.

Outside of the classroom, I love to spend time with my husband and my one year old daughter. I also love to play golf and be outside. I am looking forward to another fantastic year in Kindergarten at EDS!
