Amy Kay

Fifth Grade Teacher

Contact: akay@episcopaldayschool.org

My name is Amy Kay and I have taught fifth grade at Bishop Noland Episcopal Day School for the last thirteen years.  I attended McNeese State University and received my B.A. in Elementary Education.  Ever since a young age, teaching is all I ever wanted to do.

I became a teacher at EDS because of the freedom to teach at the pace to meet the needs of my students.  I also enjoy the small classroom sizes because I feel that I know my students and their families as well as a member of my own family.

I believe teachers should make  students feel special and important despite their weaknesses.  I strive to create an environment where learning is fun, exciting and where differences are embraced.

My faith and my family are the most important things in my life.  Don and I have been married for fourteen years.  We have three wonderful sons.  Both Dylan and Andy have attended EDS since PreK 2.  Lewis is our newest addition and is such a blessing to our lives!

Besides leading in fifth grade I have coached both boys and girls basketball at EDS for the last thirteen years.  I also serve on the Lighthouse Team, and I am the Student Council Sponsor.  In addition, I lead the kindergarten Sunday school at my church.
