Hi, I’m Mrs. Alisha! I am so excited to be here at EDS along with my children. This will be my second year teaching Prek 3, however, prior to teaching here at EDS I taught Reading intervention, 2nd grade, Kindergarten inclusion and Prek inclusion while working for CPSB for 5 years. Once I had children I choose to take the time to stay at home and raise them until they were ready to go to school.

I am a graduate of McNeese State University with a degree in Finance/ Economics in 2006. In 2009, I completed my teaching certification from Louisiana College and I will finish my Master’s degree this December. I am married to Christopher Tumey and we have 2 children. Our son is in the 1st grade and our daughter is in Prek 4. We’ve been local to the Lake Charles area most of our lives, with my husband attending EDS as a child. I love being here and I look forward to going to work every day.

Outside of working, I spend most of my time with my children and my family. I enjoy reading, traveling, and being creative. I also love science and exploring the beautiful Earth on which we live and watching my children learn and discover this also. I love the beach and my favorite thing to do is scuba diving. I have a strong passion for our sea life and our delicate coral reefs that lie beneath the waves. It truly is a wonder to behold and it puts me in awe of the majestic hand of our Creator.

"The sea, once it casts its spell, holds one in its net of wonder forever" Jacques Cousteau
